International industry gathering highlights advances in energy efficiency, lower-carbon technologies and gypsum processing performance
Buxtehude, Germany – Claudius Peters welcomed gypsum industry professionals, customers and partners from around the world to its Technology Centre in Buxtehude from 7 to 9 October for three days of technical presentations, technology demonstrations and industry networking.
Held under the theme “Improve Efficiency. Reduce Emissions. We Know How.”, the event focused on some of the key challenges facing the global gypsum industry, including improving operational efficiency, reducing energy consumption and supporting the transition towards lower-carbon manufacturing.

Showcasing Advances in Gypsum Processing
A central focus of the event was the latest development of Claudius Peters’ EM Mill technology for grinding and calcining gypsum.
Specialist presentations explored recent technological enhancements and opportunities to optimise plant performance, improve energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of gypsum production.
Visitors were also given a tour of the company’s upgraded Technikum, its technical testing and development facility in Buxtehude.
A particular highlight was the introduction of a state-of-the-art hybrid hydrogen (H₂)/natural gas burner, demonstrating Claudius Peters’ continued investment in technologies designed to support more flexible and lower-carbon industrial processing.
The upgraded facility provides an enhanced platform for process testing, technology development and customer demonstrations.
Bringing the Industry Together
Alongside the technical programme, the gypsum event provided an opportunity for customers and industry specialists to exchange knowledge, discuss operational challenges and explore future developments in gypsum manufacturing.
The event began with a welcome dinner at the Ratskeller in Buxtehude, followed by two days of specialist presentations, technical demonstrations and individual discussions.
An evening boat trip on the River Elbe in Hamburg, featuring dinner and live music, provided an informal setting for guests to strengthen relationships and network with industry colleagues.
The programme concluded on Friday with further technical sessions and one-to-one discussions, allowing participants to explore specific applications and opportunities for future cooperation.
Looking Ahead
The Buxtehude Open Days reinforced Claudius Peters’ commitment to technological innovation and its continued investment in solutions that help gypsum producers improve efficiency while addressing the challenges of decarbonisation.
The event also provided the opportunity to introduce a new collaboration with plasterboard equipment manufacturer Sanjin, extending the companies’ combined capabilities across the gypsum production value chain.
